words from our patients

“We have had great experience with all of the doctors we've seen here. I especially appreciate the great care our children have received as babies when two of them needed more critical care and hospital stays. I also really appreciate the nurse line and after hours nurse connection. This is so important to me, as it got me to take my seven week old baby into Children's Hospital right away. Thank you for all you do.”

“We are very happy with the doctors at Southdale Peds. We drive from Lino Lakes to get here and think it's definitely worth the long drive!”

Schedule My FluShot

Southdale Pediatrics has flu vaccine available for the 2016-2017 influenza season at all of our offices.

 -----------------

FLUMIST ("THE NASAL SPRAY") WILL NOT BE USED FOR THE 2016-17 FLU SEASON PER GUIDELINES FROM THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF PEDIATRICS AND OTHER AUTHORITIES.  EVIDENCE NOW SHOWS THAT IT HAS NOT BEEN AS EFFECTIVE AS IT NEEDED TO BE IN RECENT YEARS.

-----------------

PLEASE NOTE: At this point in the flu season, separate appointments to simply receive the flu vaccine may only be scheduled by calling our future appointments number (952-278 6939 [Edina and Eden Prairie] or 952-997-1555 [Burnsville]).  These will be "lab only appointments" in our usual office lab locations.  We do not expect that on line scheduling for flu vaccine will be used again until next season.

------------------

There is a consent form for injectable flu vaccine ("the flu shot").  It can be reviewed here.

------------------

No flu vaccine is currently approved for use in children under 6 months of age.

If a child under 9 years of age is being vaccinated for influenza, two doses of the vaccine (at least 4 weeks apart) are necessary for the first flu season they receive the vaccine.  Also, if a child under 9 years of age did not receive at least two prior doses of seasonal flu vaccine (before this season) in their lifetime, then two doses of flu vaccine will be required this season.  All individuals 9 years of age or older only require one dose of flu vaccine each season.

-------------------

Patients who are being seen for an appointment in clinic with the doctor or nurse practioner (and any siblings or parents who are along with them) may receive the flu vaccine at that appointment if their clinical condition permits.

-------------------

We are also pleased to announce that again this year we will be able to administer FLU VACCINE TO PARENTS.  If you (as a parent) would like to receive your flu vaccine through Southdale Pediatrics, please preregister by calling 952-278-6940.  Once pre-registered, you may schedule an appointment by calling our future appointments phone numbers as above.  You may also receive a flu vaccine if you are in clinic accompanying your child to your child's appointment with a doctor or nurse practitioner.
